Types of Muscle Fibers

چکیده
How skeletal muscles adapt to a repeated stimulus depends, to a large extent, on the inherent char ac ter is tics of the muscles themselves. Spe cifi cal ly, the types of fi bers that make up individual muscles greatly in fl u ence the way your athletes will adapt to their training programs. There is a reason why some athletes can sprint faster and get bigger muscles more easily than others, and why some athletes are able to run for much long er periods of time without fa tigue. In order to design training pro grams that will work best for each of your athletes, it is important for the coach to understand at least some of the complexity of skeletal muscles.

Ursolic acid induces myoglobin expression and skeletal muscle remodeling in mice
Introduction: Ursolic Acid (UA) is a lipophilic triterpenoid compound, found in large amounts in apple peel. Anabolic effects of UA on the skeletal muscle and the role of this tissue as a key regulator of systematic aging aroused this question in mind whether UA might amend skeletal muscle performances such as myoglobin expression and also whether it switches skeletal muscle fibers from glyc...
متن کاملفعالیت فیبرهای گاما در وضعیت استراحت و هنگام کشش های فازیک و تونیک در دوک عضلانی دم Rat
Background and Purpose: Basically, The muscle spindle is innervated by γ – fibers, γ – fibers are divided into phasic and tonic groups on the basis of their function. Ït is believed that phasic one γ innervate all the muscle spindle fibers where as tonic one innervate only tonic muscle spindle fibers and phasic of type two. The purpose of this study was to observe the fiber activity during ph...
متن کاملA new reduced mathematical model to simulate the action potential in end plate of skeletal muscle fibers
Usually mathematicians use Hodgkin-Huxley model or FitzHug-Nagumo model to simulate action potentials of skeletal muscle fibers. These models are electrically excitable, but skeletal muscle fibers are stimulated chemically. To investigate skeletal muscle fibers we use a model with six ordinary differential equations. This dynamical system is sensitive to initial value of some variables so it is...
متن کاملHistopathologic Changes of Extraocular Mus-cle Fibers after Injection of Botulinum Toxin
Background: Use of botulinum toxin is becoming a popular way in treatment of some forms of strabismus. To evaluate the morphological changes in the orbital surface layer muscles of the rabbit eye following a single injection of botulinum toxin. Methods: 10 white Dutch rabbits weighing 2–3 kg received either 10 units (group 1; n=5) or 20 units (group 2; n=5) of botulinum toxin into the superior r...
متن کاملMuscle fiber types of human extraocular muscles: a histochemical and immunohistochemical study.
PURPOSE To classify muscle fibers of human extraocular muscle (hEOM) and to compare them to previous studies on hEOM, as well as to nonhuman EOM classification schemes and skeletal muscle fiber types. METHODS Muscle fibers cut in different muscle planes were followed on consecutive cross sections and typed with regard to their oxidative profile in combination with their myosin-immunohistochem...
متن کاملDistribution of muscle fibers of three types differentiated by succinic dehydrogenase activity in the skeletal muscle.
The skeletal muscle fibers of mammals have been histochemically classified into two types, red and white (DUBOWITZ and PEARSE 1960, NACHMIAS and PADYKULA 1958), or three types (OGATA 1958, STEIN and PADYKULA 1962, OGATA and MORI 1964). The definite arrangement of various types of fibers within a muscle was reported by ROMANUL (1964). Although it has been reported that skeletal muscles are divid...
